Breddy gud basho, was this one.

Congrats to ozeki Kotozakura for his yusho! It wasn't a superb win for Hoshoryu kinda slipped, but still, sometimes if you can hold yourself, that could be enough.
I expected more from Onosato but such is life, I'm sure next time he'll try harder. I also hoped Wakatakakage has more say in who will be the champ. Oh well.
Hiradoumi closed a bad tournament, so he's gonna get relegated by a lot. He's young and I'm sure he'll be around the top in a couple of bashos.

Down in juryo, Kinbozan could get his award. The last day he faced Aonishiki, the other Ukrainian who performed very well on his first basho in juryo. Perhaps in January he could get a result that will promote him to makuuchi! I think he probably won't but who knows.

I have the award ceremony and yusho interview, plus the full makuuchi dohyo-iri (ring-entering ceremony). Gonna upload both here.
Yeah Natto's discord was deleted.
So two sources are FSB not that FSB and Telegram. Both behind login, but for now I have access to FSB, but if they change it it's over.
Come on Slov, I need halp!
So some of it I already wrote: >>/52636/ >>/52649/
Here's the full pic.
Natto's discord was shut down.
Luckily he set up a site where I was able to download with with yt-dlp. It's pw protected.
Good news: it was for the users to watch somewhere so he shared username and pw.
Bad news: he shared it on Discord which is no more.
Good news: I remember the last pair he shared.
Bad news: he might change it for next basho.
He still has his Telegram, I don't have that, but I have peeps who checked it. Videos are up there too.
So, I either need a link to those videos or I need someone to check if he shares the uname and pw for his site on Telegram. Note: I'm not sure if I can dl the videos from Telegram even if I have links to them. So we need a solution.
That's about it.

March banzuke is out!
Hoshoryu is at the tipi-top now!

Excite all around.
I expect Hoshoryu to push with all his might on his debut as yokozuna. He had the angry dad stare before, now he can justly can put it into use.
I hope Onosate fares well again. He really needs a yusho. He fared better than in November, but he can do way better. For me he has a likeable character, who shows honest emotional reactions.
Kotozakura did poorly last time, kadoban now. But in November he managed to get the yusho with 14-1, losing only to Oho...
Oho! Dang, with his outstanding performance he was promoted to sekiwake! I have no idea how he managed it, because previously he really pulled mixed results. When he was up he got beaten a lot, when he was down he could climb back. He is obviously belongs to top half, top third, but is he good enough for the sanyaku ranks? In January I cheered for him, the idea was so whimsical. I think I stick to it and name him my fav.
The rest in the sanyaku aren't that exciting, but look at that Maegeshira #1 bros! Hah.
Takerufuji is at #6. I expect him to rise more. Another 10-5 perhaps? Or can we hope for an even better performance?

At the end of the makuuchi banzuke there was lot of movements. Shish is back at #13 and Ryuden at #14. Huge jump from the top of juryo. And look at that: Aonishiki and Asakoryu!
Poor Mitakeumi fell back to #17.

Juryo
Hokutofuji is down at #8, poor dude. I really like his intensity. Well that's about what I want to comment about.
Perhaps look at Tamashoho at #1.

Penultimate day of Haru Basho. Exciting tournament so far, not without surprises. The fate of all the lower division championships are decided already, but makuuchi will keep us suspense till the last day.
In juryo another new Isegahama lad, Kusano cut through the ranks for the title. He seems to be also from amateur sumo, so he started in makushita, but his results at this point weren't too impressive: 6-1, 5-2, 5-2, 4-3, 4-3. Now he is making a splash. Up till yesterday he had only one losses. We'll see if he can bag the last to points.

In makuuchi good, old, hairy Takayas' is leading the list, with 11-2. Onosato follows by one less point. Then half a dozen 9-4s, their ranks will be cut in half today, odds favour Takerufuji and Daieisho. If Takayasu fails on both days of the weekend, a 9-4 also could grab the yusho. In theory, since Onosato will have a major say in this.
Takayasu had been runner up for 8 times for the yusho already. He was an ozeki too, he'd really deserve to hold that cup finally.

Kotozakura saved his ozeki title, getting a kachi-koshi. However from a holder of that title everyone expects better performances.
Sadly yokozuna Hoshoryu had to go kyujo due to an arm injury. Hopefully he can recover. Terunofuji had to retire due to the massive amount of injuries his body suffered, hopefully Hoshoryu won't forced to follow and leave so early in his career. Well actually I'm quite positive he won't.

Very good basho. Last day was full of great matches. Like how Aonishiki beat Oho or Wakamotoharu pushed Takerufuji out. But the top was the Onosato vs Takayasu rassle!
Takayas' and Onosato entered the last day both with 11-3 and both of them beat their opponents so they had to meet in the playoffs! In the end Onosato could held the cup in the air.
Trying to upload the full match, with the ceremony beforehand.
I'm sad for Takayasu, it's his 9th time he is runner up for the yusho, and apparently the 3rd time he loses in the playoffs. He had a good career, reaching the title of ozeki too, but never won a tournament. He would have deserved it. He is getting old, who knows how many times he can repeat a feat like what he did now.
Congrats Onosato, he might be a yokozuna soon.

Have to mention Kusano, down in juryo, finishing with 14 victories! Excellent job.

It does seem like Onosato's tournament. Haven't seen today's bouts yet, but yesterday he was leading 11-0, defeated Wakamotoharu, who is also in good form.
Takayasu vs Ura was a really fun match. Would clap.
Btw Hoshoryu is in good form. Only lost two for now. But 2 points behind Onosato.
Down in juryo Kusano's performance looks good. Won't be 14-1 as last time, but he rassle the top rikishis of yurjo, so more chance to lose.
4 days, 4 points.

Wew, fun basho!
Congrats to Onosato who secured the yusho and his yokozuna title two days ago. And today he received the cup, with a 14-1 result.
He kept his unbeaten streak to the last day, when he faced yokozuna Hoshoryu and lost the bout.
Wakatakakage had a very good basho as well.

In juryo Kusano received his 2nd cup. 13-2. Great job.
Have to mention Wakaikari, coming in second with 12-3. Surely gonna get promoted too.

Nagoya Basho starts on Sunday!

Onosato's debut as yokozuna!
If I have to guess it will be either about the two yokozunas' competing with each other or the three sekiwake's ozeki run, all three has at least 10 points, Wakatakakage got a very good 12-3 and considering his form he might have the best chance to continue on.
Kotozakura is a weak ozeki right now. Had a 5-10, then two 8-7 which barely saved his chops. I assume his weak performance is the result of some injury or illness.
I wish Takayasu good luck for the tournament, but I don't expect him to get a real good result, we could probably be glad with a positive balance.
I support OHO on. Let's go big lad!
Now the green Aonishiki is quite up there, #1M, we'll see if he can get into the sanyaku ranks. I'm sure he can.
Lower I bet Takerufuji and Atamifuji are both eager to correct their previous points, I expect some good wins from them. Hakuoho is climbing, Win/Losebozan is a question, Midorifuji is way back.
Kusano debut in Makuuchi! And Wakaikari too who changed his shikona to Fujinokawa.
Shishi was bumped back to the last place #17. He really has to try to stay in.

Juryo.
Top three are regular makuuchi guys, getting old I guess. But they aren't that old yet.
Not sure whom to point out to watch out for. They seem all meh.

But below in Makushita, there is Asanoyama at #1 west, climbing back steadily, no brainer he'll beat all like carrot, he is strong and talented. However this ex-ozeki is getting old too (31), so despite he'll back in juryo next time, and will have a relatively easy time there, I don't expect him to return to sanyaku ranks, too many young talents.
Enho is somewhere further down. #16. Takes too long to get back. I fear we'll never see him again in juryo.

Aki basho starts next Sunday!
Has Hoshoryu recovered?
Can Kotozakura hold his ozeki title? Can he do better than the last four(!) bashos?
Wakamotoharu is still on his ozeki run, he needs at least 11 win to get the laurels.
Kirishima has to restart it. Frankly I don't think it's in him to get back. And there are too many fresh competitors.
Like Aonishiki who is now a komosubi. Shares the title with veteran Takayas', he might have a couple of good tournament in him still.
Hakuoho and Atamifuji climbed up I bet they aim higher.
I really hope OHO can do good.
And I really don't mind a bunch of others.
Hmm. Kusano at #6 but Taker is at shameful 12. He can do better.

In juryo Daiseizan was really good last time.
Hopefully Chiyoshoma is recovered and there is Mita climbing up.
Towards the end there is Asanoyama. Expecting good result from the ex-ozeki.

There is a lot to looking forward.

And again why is this autosäging??? >>/54266/
The plvideo/SumoCuts page seems to have no videos. Probably deleted all. Sad.
Can get source from vk tho. So watching sumo as usual. Well later with half an hour at 18:30.
In case slovbudy reads.

Quite entertaining bouts, this basho has some.
For now Kusano ain't doing good which makes me sad. OHO neither but at least he beat Aonishiki which is becoming a feat on its own.
Takayasu's trumpeting tone sounds false too. Not one win to his name for now. He's getting old.
Hoshoryu is unbeaten however. Prepared and healed it seems. It's hard to imagine him doing a flawless basho, but judging his form this tournament looks a possibility, and an even greater chance for the yusho.

This one for Slovbudi. I hope he is doing well I do miss him from sumo streams, if you read this, you are welcomed any time.
It is not easy to see our favorites decline. He was hoping all this time Takayasu gets his deserved yusho finally. The ozeki without tournament victory, a champion without championship.
I think the cause of tragedy of this talented rikishi is that his prime fell into the reign of Hakuho who just grabbed the titles left and right, and then the covid era really put a halt on his path. He was only 30 back then, five years later he still among the top osumosans, but age and harm carves the strength away.
He has a likeable style and a characteristic look with his furcoat. And he still can pull the occasional surprise.

Kyushu basho starts on Sunday.
If the kamis are kind Natto will provide with videos and we're gonna watch the stream in usual time. In this case at 18:30 CET. The usual place. Slovbudy knows.

There was an exhibition tournament in London last month. It was... interesting in a way, I watched the highlights, they are on youtube.
Albeit most of them battered none of them wore their usual protective gear and tapes and bandages. No cupping marks either.
There were no effort in the bouts, and some might have been practiced beforehand. Some mandatory moves, like Tobizaru running out of the dohyo when needed or not. It also went for five days only.
The whole thing is understandable, they performed not contended. They also did not want injuries before an official basho.
So while it did not compare to the real deal it was a new thing.

New banzuke of course.

Most important news: Endo retires.
He is the most popular rikishi in Japan. Was.

Makuuchi
The rivalry of the yokozunas continue. Who will came on top this time?
Kotozakura saved his chops with a 9-5-1. Hopefully he is all right.
Aonishiki started an ozeki run - but Wakatakakage's got broken.
Oho is up at sekiwake I expect him to lose badly like 5-10. I hope he won't and can hang to the spot.
Takayas' despite his 7-8, because all the others did shit worse and noone could fill his place.
Takanosho is up again, Hakuoho is climbing.
Kusano took a new shikona suitable for an Isegahama boy: Yoshinofuji. Hopefully it will help him getting a better result this round.
Nishikifuji and Chiyoshoma are back in makuuchi.

Juryo
Mita and Asanoyama are in good positions to get back to makuuchi after this tournament.
I seem to recall Takerufuji has a serious injury which takes him out for this year. Not even sure if he'll be back in January. Perhaps.

Now this is quite interesting.
Yesterday Onosato faced Aonishiki, both had 10-2 points, so a deciding bout. Onosato won, but how he won resulted in debates if the decision of the gyoji and the elders were right to give him the point or not.
The comments of tachi-ai explain a lot about the circumstances and the rules:
https://tachiai.org/2025/11/21/kyushu-2025-day-thirteen/#comments
Previously Slovborg explained that they have rules in case both rikishis are in a position they can't recover from, so both losing, the comments call their state "dead". I assume it follows traditional Japanese naming convention, I dunno. So when they are both dead the one in the dohyo usually gets to be the winner. On the other hand there are rules or customs about actively fighting in mid-air, commenters citing Ura's case when he pulls wins like that.
In theory they both were "dead" in the moment Onosato hit the clay. But it could be argued that Aonishiki was still fighting and he was the one pushing Onosato down.

I expected to get some insight from Mainichi, since they publish an article summarizing the bouts each day:
https://mainichi.jp/english/sports/sumo/
Except there was none yesterday.
Instead today I found this:
https://mainichi.jp/english/articles/20251122/p2g/00m/0na/026000c
This describes how the new female Japanese PM could defile the male only dohyo. It talks about tradition and female impurity and whatnot. Essentially the core of the problem in this case that the PM is usually giving a Cup to a rikishi. And now the PM is a woman. Now it turns out this won't happen this basho, she's somewhere abroad doing politics. But in January.
So if it is a problem in January... why publish this article now? Where is yesterdays summary?
It's a mystery.

Wew, sumo again on the 11th!
Hopefully we're going to get source - then we start in the usual time of 18:30 CET!

What can be expected?
The rivalry between Onosato and Hoshoryu surely will be upset by Aonishiki, who is aiming for the yokozuna title. Expecting a three way competition with no real danger from anyone else.
Im hoping OHO will have a great run, and I'm curious what Yoshinofuji can put onto the table.
Takayas' is sekiwake, but no real hope for tournament victory, the young lions are just too tough.

Will Shishi be able to save his chops?
Asanoyama and Hatsuyama is up in makuuchi, ought to be interesting. And Asahakruyu will have his debut.

In juryo:
Fujiryoga was great last tournament, now he starts at #3.
Takerufuji is at #5, has he recovered? Hope so.

Cool basho, lotsa fun bouts. The final result is not surprising.
I really wished if OHO did better but this is what it is, next time. I'm really glad for Fujinokawa however.
I wonder if the time of yokozunas winning big (14-1, 15-0) is over. Too much competition from rikishis with similar capabilities, or capabilities that can exploit certain weaknesses. Tho in theory both yokozunas were injured.
Well, congratulations, Pwnishiki!
Wakamotoharu was a good pick standard bearer. Disappointingly lack of BANZAI tho.

Haru Basho starts on Sunday!
As usual if we have source, we have stream.

Here's the makuuchi banzuke.
The great attention will be on Aonishiki, who is aiming for the yokozuna belt.
Kotozakura is the lame ozeki. Sad, but I see the possibility him being ozeki for a while.
Kirishima 22 points on his ozeki run, he needs another 11 and he is set. His sekiwake pair is Takayasu, 8-7-ing on.
Tummyfuji is komusubi now, Kusano/Yoshinofuji is at M1, and the tiny Fujinokawa is at M2! Nice.
Oho slipped down to M3, but it's okay he's gonna have a great basho.
Worth to watch for:
Hakunofuji who had a bad encounter with his oyakata, Terunofuji. Shamefur for Teru.
Asanoyama trying to climb up to reclaim a position towards the top of the banzuke.
Fujiryoga is now in makuuchi, at the very end, but he is good, so he'll climb. Unless he gets injured or something.

Juryo.
There was some strong competition last time, Takerufuji wasn't too good however, fell far from expectations.
Perhaps Toshinofuji and Fujitensei are more the interesting picks.

We had a splendid basho!
Kirishima had the yusho, 12-3, and he is promoted back to ozeki.
While Onosato had to kyujo, Hoshoryu was able to finish the tournament. Weak results from a yokozuna, but at least he had his first win over Aonishiki, who held a 0-5 winning streak over him.
While we at Aonishiki, 7-8, became kadoban. He is strong and quick, with wits, but he relies much on his distinctive style and the other rikishis figured him out. Each tried to force him out of his stance, pushing him up, denying his advantage. He needs to mature, widen his horizon. He is good but he has to adapt. He also needs to learn the others.
I'm a bit sad that OHO ended up with a negative balance, but Fujinokawa got in the green with this win. I suspect OHO gave this to him, or at least made it easier, playing along with the throw. Audience loves this, reminds me of that Midorufji vs Hokuseiho bout where the tiny one similarly threw the big lad. It is also a show.

Down in juryo Kazuma and Wakanosho did really good, both are young and seem talented. Dewanoryu got the yusho there, beating Wakanosho in the playoff.
Takerufuji isn't 100% yet, but his stable mate Toshinofuji did well.

The whole thing was a great entertainment, too bad Slovbudy missed it all.
I hope Onosato comes back in good shape next basho, it's kinda weird not seeing him there. And maybe Aonishiki will do better next time too, with the way he scurried off after the last match that he was probably severely humbled when he lost to Hosh and was denied the Kachi Koshi.
 >>/55214/
Articles says he still suffers from the shoulder injury of late 2025. We could see it in January too. Wikipee says:
> dislocation of the left acromioclavicular joint
I'm not sure if he'll be able to fite in May. They might push it. I think Teru had to rassle in more serious condition. The problem I see is that Onosato is so young still. If he could recover he could be a fine yokozuna for a long time.

> Aonishiki
I do agree. I think this was a learning opportunity for him. I don't expect a yusho from him next tournament, but he will definitely prepare to be better rounded, and learn his opponents more.

Wew, Natsu Basho starts today. I was afraid I couldn't get source, but managed. Was a hard go.
So Slov, if you read this, sumo is on in the next 15 days at 18:30 CEST.
https://cytu.be/r/endcorner

I still yet to write an intro for this, what to expect whom to watch.
Ah I heard Aonishiki starts with kyujo on the first week, high chance he'll be kadoban.
At the top of the banzuke Onosato and Aonishiki will start kyujo. So the banzuke will be a bit lopsided with one yokozuna and two ozekis. But that's fine.
Atamifuji is sekiwake now, just as Kotoshoho who managed to pull a good basho last time again, after previous bad performances. I expect Tummy to keep his form and Kotoshoho to lose now.
Veterans Wkage and Takayas at komusubi.
Tiny Fujinowaka at M1. It will be hard for him, expecting losing some ranks after the basho. But it's okay, it is very good place for someone his size.
Yushinofuji at M2 and OHO at M3. I really hope the big lad will do well this time around.
Hakunofuji down at M10. Expecting better results now. Hoping problems are smoothed out with Teru.
Old man Tamawash'. Is he getting too old? Can he pull a better one now?
Towards the end of the banzuke it's Wakanosho and Fujiryoga whomster we should pay mind. Youngsters both, not without talent.

Juryo
Taker's recovery is a question. And there is his stable mate Toshinofuji. He did well last time.
And ENHO!!!!! At the very end at J14.

All right. That's about it me thinks.
