Society does not collapse, just changes. And how it changes isn't even fleshed out. Plus the super rich, the like of Tessier-Ashpool, can't even really known how capable they actually are.
And even the society change isn't that apparent. Poor are poor, rich are rich. In the West politicians were always the payed tools of big corpo - first in Britain, perhaps as early as the 18th century (or even 17th), in the US since ~1900, and Western Europe after WWII. States as just shadow states for them. Corpos stepping in as the real states would be just coming out to the light.
