It has been over two months since the first case of New World screwworm in America. Many reported the Trump USDA had failed, and a massive infestation was imminent. They said an already low cattle herd would now be decimated. But we knew different because we had been preparing for 15 months.
Since then, there have only been 45 cases, and in each of those cases the infested animal fully recovered. 
Today there are ONLY five active cases in all the U.S., a result only made possible through our actions taken to combat NWS:

SpaceX would gain control of the land through a coastal lawsuit settlement in which ExxonMobil turns over property it has owned since the 1950s. Included in the deal are coastal restoration provisions.
The sparsely populated site offers Gulf and Intracoastal Waterway access for barges, a midpoint location between Starbase and the Florida Space Coast, and natural gas supplies. Only a fraction of the over 130k acers would be used for actual launch infrastructure, with the rest as a buffer.
If this is true, the project will undoubtedly create thousands of jobs. Louisiana has passed liability protections for aerospace operations, and the FAA recently proposed waiving more than a dozen environmental laws for launch licenses.
The location will support orbital launches and is the perfect spot for SpaceX to launch Starmind AI Datacenters to sun-synch orbit.

SHAW AIR FORCE BASE, S.C. — U.S. Air Forces Central (AFCENT) conducted a change of command ceremony Aug. 4 in South Carolina at Shaw Air Force Base, marking the transfer of leadership from Lt. Gen. Derek France to Lt. Gen. Daniel Lasica.
U.S. Air Force Gen. Adrian Spain, commander of Air Combat Command, presided over the ceremony and praised the accomplishments of AFCENT across its history and under France’s leadership.
“Since 1979 when this command took the mantle of the rapid deployment joint task force, you have defined combat excellence. This command has stood as our nation’s sentry,” Spain said. “Today, that legacy of generating airpower continues.”
Lt. Gen. Patrick Frank, deputy commander of U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), represented the combatant command at the ceremony, highlighting the organization’s role in integration and successful relationships with joint and coalition partners.
“While in command of U.S. Air Forces Central over the past two years, Lt. Gen. France has been a tremendous warfighter and unparalleled contribution to the CENTCOM team,” Frank said. “His leadership and dedication will be remembered for years to come.”
France assumed command of AFCENT on April 18, 2024, and is currently slated to retire. During his outgoing remarks, France thanked the Airmen, leaders, and families across the command for their dedication and commitment.
“I am humbled today to have had the opportunity to lead AFCENT during a historic time on the world’s stage,” France said. “But more than that, I am proud to be counting myself among all of you in standing in the arena and writing history.”
Lasica joins AFCENT after serving as the director of operations at U.S. European Command headquarters in Stuttgart, Germany.
Concluding the ceremony with his remarks, Lasica underscored the ongoing mission requirements, stating, “This team has been led by warriors and leaders that epitomize our fighting spirit. We will continue our legacy of valor and aggressively focus on defend, defeat, develop and win.”
As CENTCOM’s air component, AFCENT is responsible for all air operations, partnerships, and readiness in the Middle East and Central Asia.

At 1:31 pm EDT, pool arrived with motorcade at Red Rock Casino. The ballroom where the event is being held in the cavernous casino with its brown-and-rust-colored rugs and high ceilings is full; your pooler is reluctant to attempt a head count but it's several hundred people.
On the curtains are signs touting the Trump Accounts, No Tax on Tips, and a sign behind the podium that says, "Powering the American Dream."
As was the case yesterday, there is a visibly heavy security presence on site.

Since many people have asked this question since yesterday, here is a supplemental color pool about the interiors aboard the “bridge” Air Force One that was donated by Qatar. Please note that your pool hasn’t seen the rest of the plane, only the press cabin; for a broader look at some of the interiors, some on he Trump White House staff have on past trips aboard this plane posted images of one of the staff areas.
As for the press cabin:
The commissioned AF1s had press cabins on the right side of the plane. On the bridge plane, the cabin is on the left-hand side.
The seats are in better shape and much more spacious than the ones on the 1990 Boeing jets that make up the commissioned planes earmarked for presidential travel until the long-delayed planes intended to replace them are finished being produced. There are large individual storage bins overhead, unlike on the other planes. There are also outlets at every seat to charge laptops/phones - a huge difference from the other planes.
The seats are further apart than on the older planes, and they can be tilted far back. There is also a leg rest with a silver footrest piece attached that can raise, as if on business class of a commercial flight. The chairs are medium brown leather trim for the armrests and headrests, beige upholstery with a diamond-shaped pattern in rust and brown, alternated and overlaid on the beige.  There are reading lamps with a long brown cord tethered to each seat, with a silver cap over the bulb and a button to turn on. The trays at each seat are a dark lacquered wood.
There are individual televisions in the back of each seat, which were tuned to Fox News but could be switched to a live feed of cameras outside the fuselage, as well as a location map of the trip.

The rug is a gold-yellow, with a pattern of three thick bands -  two dark autumn leaves-colored stripes with a white one in between, like an ice cream sandwich - stretching horizontally across the plane, for the back two cabins.
On the opposite side of the press cabin is a staff and USSS cabin, but unlike the older planes, which had the division of the two as part of the build-out, these cabins at the back of the plane are separated by a thick fabric curtain, from plane floor to ceiling.  The curtain serving as a partition ends about a half inch off the floor so the shoes of staff, or their shadows, can be seen going by. The curtains are a little complicated to navigate either if someone is walking and there’s turbulence or when the pool is getting in position for a POTUS gaggle (which has not happened on this plane on this trip so far). People can end up falling into the curtain and there’s nothing keeping them from ending up in the other cabin other than their own sense of balance.
The door at the front of the press cabin is locked, and POTUS has on past trips gaggled by walking around to the back of the plane and standing in the doorway. The presidential seal that’s hanging now is pretty nondescript, and made of fabric, as opposed to wood with gold accents like on the other planes.
The ride itself is smoother, particularly on takeoff. But a noticeable difference is how cold it is on board. The air conditioning is blanket-worthy.

POTUS started talking at around 2:10 pm PST, taking the stage to Lee Greenwood and standing until the song had concluded.
He pointed out Mike Tyson, with whom he has a very long relationship dating back to the 1980s, in the audience. Topics he focused on included the MI senate primaries and specifically the winner in the Democratic primary, Abdul El-Sayed, No Tax on Tips, the tax cuts that were part of the OBBB last year, the SAVE America Act, as well as criticizing the media to a chorus of boos aimed at the press in the back of the room.
He finished talking at 3:23 pm. Pool is now loaded in the motorcade and are waiting toward Harry Reid Int’l Airport for the flight back to JBA.

Motorcade pulled up to AF1 at promptly 4 pm. POTUS was already walking up the stairs by the time pool left the press vans; the heat is still oppressive and a wing gaggle seemed unlikely.
One quick note about the event: POTUS called out several midterm candidates, as well as the actor Dean Cain and Gov Joe Lombardo, and Tillman Fertitta.

AF1 touched down at 11:16 pm eastern time. POTUS disembarked at 11:26 pm. We had no gaggle from him during be flight.
Once down the movable stairs, POTUS saluted one of the uniformed AF officials greeting him, turned to his left toward the pool, did not respond to a shouted question about whether FBI director Kash Patel had botched the case to solve Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance, gave a thumbs up, turned stone-faced away from us and walked to Marine One.
Several staff boarded as well. M1 lifted into the air at 11:33 pm.

Major AI labs (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Meta, etc.) spend hundreds of millions to billions of dollars annually on human data work.

Companies like Scale AI, Surge AI (the company behind DataAnnotation), Outlier, and others employ or contract tens to hundreds of thousands of people worldwide.

Even “synthetic data” approaches (AI generating training data for other AI) still require human oversight, filtering, and validation to avoid model collapse or amplifying errors.

Bottom line: Current AI is better understood as a powerful pattern-matching engine that is steered, corrected, and quality-controlled by large amounts of human judgment.
