For the second time in 16 months, Jacob Zuma could be forcibly taken back to jail – and the DA are demanding a swift arrest.

John Steenhuisen has issued an ultimatum to South Africa’s law enforcement officials. He is demanding that Jacob Zuma is arrested by 17:00 on Friday – and he’s set a 48-hour deadline for Correctional Services to confirm their intentions.

It was ruled yesterday that Msholozi would have to return to prison to complete a 15-month jail sentence, after he was irregularly granted medical parole. The DA leader, however, wants to see the verdict enacted as soon as possible:

“The DA has sent a lawyer’s letter to acting national Commissioner of Correctional Services, demanding that he confirms within 48 hours that he’ll ensure Jacob Zuma is returned by 17:00 on Friday 25 November to the Estcourt Correctional Centre to serve out the remainder of his sentence.”

HOW JZ GOT HIMSELF IN THIS POSITION

The appeal was raised against a High Court decision setting aside a decision to release the former president on medical parole. Zuma’s lawyers argued that sending him back to jail would be tantamount to imposing a double sentence.

The Constitutional Court sentenced Zuma to 15 months imprisonment for being in contempt of court. This followed the former president breaching the apex court’s order for him to appear before the State Capture Commission after it summoned him.

Zuma was imprisoned at the Escourt Correctional Services Facility. He was expected to serve his 15 months behind bars – but didn’t. Zuma was released on medical parole by former Correctional Services commissioner Arthur Fraser.

This was under two months of Zuma in prison and went against the Medical Parole Advisory Board’s recommendation. Judge Elias Matojane stated that Zuma’s case needed the SCA’s attention.

The EFF says there will be serious consequences and repercussions if Janusz Walus is indeed released from prison.

The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) has slammed the Constitutional Court’s decision to grant Janusz Walus parole saying he must remain in prison until he dies. 

On Monday, 21 November the Apex Court found that the decision by Justice Minister Ronald Lamola to deny Walus parole in 2020 was irrational and ordered that he be released on parole within ten days.

EFF SLAMS JANUSZ WALUS PAROLE

Janusz Walus, a Polish national, assassinated Hani outside his Boksburg home, shooting him four times on Easter Saturday 10 April 1993, on the eve of South Africa’s transition to democracy in 1994. The freedom fighter was declared dead at the scene.

Following an investigation Walus was then arrested and sentenced to death. However that was later changed to life imprisonment after South Africa abolished the death penalty.

The EFF said the Constitutional Court undermined the sensitivities of South Africans and will invoke instability in the country, adding that Walus cannot be forgiven. 

The party said there has been no resolution between Walus and the Hani family which has consistently opposed his release due to the trauma they suffered. 

“It is a betrayal of all combatants who fought the forces of apartheid and colonialism and has reduced the Constitutional Court to an instrument that reinforces white supremacy and disrespects the memory of an icon,” the party said. 

The EFF further said that there will be serious consequences and repercussions and the Constitutional Court will take responsibility over what will happen if Walus is released from prison.

Meanwhile, Chris Hani’s widow, Limpho, also slammed the Constitutional Court’s decision saying it is diabolical.

Speaking outside the court, Limpho couldn’t hide her anger and said that her family was never consulted on the decision. He also slammed Chief Justice Raymond Zondo saying he couldn’t be bothered.

The SACP also expressed disappointment with the decision and said the judgment has far-reaching implications that compel them to analyse it deeper and look for a new way forward under the circumstances.

Chief Justice Raymond Zondo yesterday ordered Justice and Correctional Services Minister Ronald Lamola to take all the necessary steps to place Walus on parole within 10 days of the judgment. He left the conditions of parole to the minister to decide.

It is not clear at this stage whether the minister will allow Walus to return to Poland, his country of origin. Walus has previously said that once released, he would like to return home.

Trafigura Charters Dual-Fuel Methanol-Powered Tanker

British Columbia-based Waterfront Shipping has entered into a time-charter agreement with commodity trading giant Trafigura for the methanol-powered dual-fuel medium-range product tanker MT Mari Innovator.

Waterfront Shipping is a subsidiary of Methanex, the world’s largest producer and supplier of methanol, and is pioneering the use of methanol as a marine fuel. Out of Waterfront’s current 30-vessel fleet, 18 have methanol dual-fuel capability and have accumulated over 123,000 operating hours on methanol fuel. The company has a 19th dual fuel tanker on order with delivery expected next spring.

“Trafigura plays a vital leadership role in the energy transition and for it to recognize that methanol marine fuel offers a clear pathway towards a low carbon shipping industry will help build the platform to drive change,” said Paul Hexter, President of Waterfront Shipping.

Built in 2021, the 49,999 dwt Mari Innovator is co-owned by Waterfront Shipping and Clean Sea Transport.

Andrea Olivi, Head of Wet Freight for Trafigura, said the time-charter agreement aligns with Trafigura’s advocacy for industry-wide action to tackle shipping emissions.

“We’re excited about the cooperation with Waterfront Shipping and Clean Sea as we explore and learn also how methanol technology can integrate with our fleet to achieve our carbon intensity reduction goal of 25 per cent by 2030 across our entire chartering operation,” Olivi said.

Methanol, which can be produced from renewable sources, is drawing wide interest in shipping as a promising marine fuel for reducing greenhouse gas emissions, most notably carbon dioxide. As a cleaner-burning marine fuel, conventional methanol already meets the International Maritime Organization’s (IMO) emissions regulations, significantly reducing sulphur oxides by 99 per cent, nitrogen oxides by up to 80 per cent, and particulate matter by 95 per cent compared to heavy fuel oil.

“Methanol is also liquid at ambient temperature, safe, easy to handle, widely available, fully compliant with IMO Tier III regulations and can be produced from renewable sources—offering a clear transition pathway to decarbonization,” explains Hexter.

Modi Mano, CEO at Clean Sea Transport, commented: “The Mari Innovator is our third-generation dual-fuel vessel and offers a number of advantages to Trafigura including the flexibility to diversify fuel options or consume methanol for potential cost savings. It is equipped with the latest technological innovations and fuel consumption is particularly low for a medium-range tanker.”

Load shedding is killing 5G in South Africa
The perfect storm of a power-crippled 5G roll-out will widen rather than narrow the digital divide in South Africa.

The South African telecommunications industry is in a state of flux.

On one hand, 5G network roll-outs are gathering pace, with the latest news that Nokia has won a major deal to expand MTN’s 5G network to more than 2 800 additional sites around the country.

On the other hand, there seems to be no eLoad shedding is killing 5G in South Africand in sight to the country’s power crisis, with storm clouds gathering around the key stakeholders following the explosive allegations levelled at Eskom and the governing ANC by ousted CEO André de Ruyter.

While 5G promises to bring many benefits to consumers, including faster download speeds, lower latency and better network capacity, it also comes with some challenges, one of the most significant being increased power consumption. One of the selling points of 5G is that it’s more “eco-friendly” than LTE, but even though 5G consumes less power per bit of data, because it transmits significantly more data than LTE the net result is also significantly higher power consumption.

While 5G in South Africa won’t be using millimetre-wave bands because the spectrum has not been made available to local operators, it will still be using more power to transmit signals in the available sub-6GHz spectrum.

This is why power – or rather the lack of it – can ultimately be a 5G killer.

As with fibre and LTE, 5G roll-out started in the wealthier areas, because it entails a big upfront investment and needs measurable return on investment to make it viable. So, the first stage of the 5G roll-out will naturally take place in high-LSM-income, high-density urban areas. In rural areas, where communities are poorer and less densely populated, not too many customers even have the phones to use it, and the investment required will be exponentially more because of the power issues mention

Invalidated

So, not only is the power crisis causing service disruptions across the board, it’s changing the dynamics and threatening the future plans for the vendors currently committing to the 5G roll-out in the first place. After all, there are many smart people that for years have been working on the strategy of rolling out national 5G networks, and almost overnight all those calculations are invalidated because they never took into account that we’d have power issues like this.

The bottom line? The energy crisis affects the cost of deployment, which affects ROI, and if ROI isn’t right deployment can’t happen from a business perspective.

The longer the power crisis continues, the more it will change the way we thought things would happen, development wise, on expanding and improving 5G network coverage and getting people connected. Everyone is talking about bridging the digital divide. The problem has never been the lack of Internet access, but rather the lack of affordable Internet access.

The perfect storm of a power-crippled 5G roll-out will only make things worse, and widen rather than narrow that divide.

The silver lining, if there is one, is the strong wireless Internet service provider (Wisp) community that has already accounted for and mitigated against many of the power issues we’re experiencing today, and as such has a head start on any 5G deployment in South Africa’s rural and remote areas.

Wisps have several advantages over 5G mobile networks when it comes to coverage, speed, cost, reliability and flexibility of internet access delivery. Ultimately, the choice between Wisps and 5G mobile networks will depend on the specific needs and requirements of the customer or organisation. But with the power crisis potentially putting a spoke in the 5G wheel, the obvious choice for many South Africans may ultimately be made for them.

WHO Insider Blows Whistle on Gates and GAVI
Dr. Astrid Stuckelberger is a health scientist who does research, training and teaching in public health. Farms such as the Via Organica farm in Mexico are promoting a novel way to produce inexpensive, yet highly nutritious, animal feed made from native agave plants driving this change of paradigm. But there is much more that needs to be done.

A history - some of which has never been published before:

The setup for mass mail balloting started in Washington state in 1985 with a plan to turn Washington blue. 
At that time Republicans were very good at their mail ballot game, but absentee voting was restricted. 
The Democrats effort to achieve dominance in absentee voting involved a software guy named Jeffrey Dean, who specialized in accounting software, and his brother Neil Dean, who mobilized temp workers and had a mail sorting operation.
The plan was interrupted when Jeff Dean was sentenced to prison for embezzlement from his politically connected employer. 

SPECTRUM PRINT & MAIL (ballots)
As soon as he was released from prison, some unknown entity financed Jeff Dean for his own ballot printing company, to the tune of a couple million $. He was immediately given the contract to handle ballot printing for King County WA, and his brother handled mail sorting for absentees, plus provided election workers through his temp firm.
Meanwhile, embezzler Jeff got 24 hour keycard access to King County elections with total god-level admin access to both their voter registration system and their central tabulation.
Jeff hired his prison buddy, narcotics trafficker John Elder, to help run the ballot printing. Sometimes they left bags of ballot overages on the curb for night pickup.

JEFF DEAN BUYS GLOBAL ELECTION SYSTEMS
Even though he had made no attempt to pay court ordered restitution of over $300k, somehow Jeff Dean had enough financing to purchase Global Election Systems, a manufacturer of optical scan machines, DRE touchscreens, and the GEMS central tabulator.

DOUBLE SET OF BOOKS
Within weeks of purchase, Jeff Dean had ordered programmers to create a unique architecture featuring a double set of books in the central tabulator. This is interesting timing, because he had been visiting then-Los Angeles County registrar Conny McCormack to set up her central tabulation system.
California had just enacted a law requiring a hand count audit of one-half percent of its precincts. The GEMS double set of books enabled a crooked election to pass a hand count spot check:
- vote totals for each voting machine for each precinct fed into its Microsoft Access database, in two identical tables.
- when you run a results report it pulls from one of the tables.
- by entering a "-1" in a specific field, the vote data in the two tables decouple from each other.
- when doing a spot check audit (or any RLA) the precinct you are auditing will pull from a true table even if the actual data being summed up in the other table, the total, is false.
I traced this specific design to Jeffrey Dean. As a financial accounting programmer, he understood the importance of a double set of books to defeat audits.
My sources told me Jeff Dean wasn't a great programmer, but he did do the architecture specifications.

VOTE REMOTE
He brought in programmers to create "Vote Remote" which was an automated signature comparison program, with ways to set matching tolerance as loose or tight as needed for any group of ballots.
His brother Neil was working on sophisticated mail processing and sorting. Jeff did some of the programming for Neil.

FRACTIONAL COUNTS
By June 2001 Jeff had a new design specification for the central tabulator: fractional counts and a weighted race function. This allows a preset allocation of votes by assigning a percentage of each vote, which can be less than or more than one.
This appeared to be a requirement for acquisition of the merged Global Elections and ballot print & mail firm. Jeff Dean was the largest stockholder in both (put in wife's name because he still owed restitution on his embezzlement). 
By 2001, Global Election Systems was basically insolvent. Two days after completing the commit on the new fractional count feature, Diebold issued a large bridge loan to Global Elections. 

DIEBOLD ACQUIRES GLOBAL ELECTIONS
Diebold acquired Global in Jan. 2022. Using the trade name Diebold, but with the elections division operating as a stand-alone, "Diebold" sold its first major deal, a statewide voting system buy by the state of Georgia.
In the mean time, Jeff Dean and partner John Elder were running around California signing up customers for Vote Remote and a planned expansion of vote by mail.

ESCAPE FROM FINANCIAL PREDICAMENTS
I started writing about Jeff Dean in 2003. His convicted felon past got too hot to handle so Diebold put him at arms length with a lucrative consulting agreement. 
I got his story into The Associated Press, which snowballed into a court order to cough up the $300k restitution. But Jeff shielded the millions he made on the Diebold acquisition claiming it all belonged to his wife.
In 2004, one of his Vote Remote programmers sued him for a piece of the Diebold $$ Jeff had promised him. 
The programmer, Tae Kim, won, but Jeff and wife declared bankruptcy while also somehow funding acquisition of a plush ranch in Idaho and bankrolling son into ownership of a nearby RV resort.
Through 2006 they were tied up in bankruptcy fraud investigations. 
Brother Neil's firm was acquired by Pitney Bowes, which quickly lined up several patents for signature comparison, vote by mail processing, ballot envelope design, and ballot tracking software.
By this time most of Washington State was vote by mail, all of Oregon, and it was vastly expanded in Colorado, California, and many other states.
Former drug trafficker/ballot printer John Elder went into a private consulting business helping with vote by mail and also petition signature matching.
By 2011, with vote by mail getting into full swing, Jeff Dean sat atop his hilltop ranch, horses running around, and (according to a neighbor I interviewed) "surrounded by empty vodka bottles in a room full of servers."
She had no idea what he was doing with the servers.
Jeff Dean is quite old now and probably out of the elections industry he helped launch.
He managed to reverse the judgment against him by Tae Kim and got extricated from bankruptcy.
All in all, Jeff Dean seemed to have a lot of help getting out of his financial problems. 
In his depositions, he explained it was unfair to take the rap for embezzlement, claiming that certain partners at the firm had been compensating him under the table for a project that couldn't be discussed. When other partners found out, he took the fall and the firm split up.
The firm handled business for King County and the Washington State Democrats. Among its partners was Egil "Bud" Krogh, previously head of the Watergate Plumbers unit under Richard Nixon.
The shadowy bankrolling of Jeff's ballot printing plant while he was on work release from prison, his extraordinary on site access to King County voting software, and his intimate involvement with every facet of what became modern election systems nationwide, has always had me wondering if he had 3-letter agency friends.

Trout closed the memo on a dour note:

Trout did not make clear in the memo that his departure was imminent, however. The negative portrayal of Oregon’s elections system runs counter to the reputation Oregon has enjoyed this year. As a leader in universal vote by mail, the state — and Trout specifically — have been a model for many other states who rushed to get their own systems online in the pandemic.

Last week’s events mark the second time Trout has been let go as the state’s election director. He was first pushed out in 2013 by then-Secretary of State Kate Brown, after roughly four years on the job. Trout began working for Clear Ballot, a company that supplies ballot creation and tallying equipment to many counties in Oregon and beyond. But he re-emerged in 2016, when newly elected Secretary of State Dennis Richardson added Trout to his transition team, and subsequently hired him as elections director.

Trout is not the only high-ranking member of Clarno’s staff to depart last week. Her chief of staff, Cameron Smith, also left the office, having accepted a job with the Northwest Credit Union Association. Smith’s plans to leave the office were announced in late September.

The lawyers for Rudy Giuliani and Sidney Powell announced their clients were open to a settlement with Dominion Voting Systems after their discovery requests are complete.

Dominion sued Powell and Rudy and Mike Lindell for $1.3 billion for accusations they say damaged the company.

But Dominions won’t let ANYONE expect their machines or systems. They blocked any investigation of their machines in Arizona. They refused any legitimate inspection in Georgia. And Dominion currently has a lawsuit against Pennsylvania County auditors to prevent them from looking at their machines.

Dominion says it’s because any audit will damage their machines. Really? If this is true why would any county in the US use their product? They should immediately be disqualified.

Watch Dominion refuse any discovery in their case against Rudy, Mike and Rudy.

    Dominion Voting Systems said this week in a court filing that there was no “realistic possibility” that it would settle its $1.3 billion defamation lawsuit with MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell and the pro-Trump lawyers, Rudy Giuliani and Sidney Powell.

    The company made its position clear in a new filing Monday night as part of the company’s lawsuits against the trio for pushing an array of conspiracy theories about the election-technology company’s role in the 2020 election.

    “Given the devastating harm to Plaintiffs, the lack of remorse shown by Defendants, and the fact that many of them continue to double down on their lies, Plaintiffs do not believe any realistic possibility of settlement exists,” lawyers for the company wrote in the filing.

    In the same filing, lawyers representing Powell and Giuliani reiterated their positions that their claims about Dominion’s role in the election didn’t meet the legal standard for defamation.

    “Powell and Giuliani are open to settlement discussions once discovery is complete and Dominion realizes that its claims are without merit and that it has no damages legally attributable to Powell and Giuliani,” the filing said. “Powell and Giuliani have nothing to show remorse for and dispute that they have lied about anything.”

    The claims were made in a joint filing in which the parties proposed a schedule to US District Judge Carl J. Nichols, who is overseeing Dominion’s array of defamation lawsuits, to move the cases forward. In August, Nichols denied attempts from Powell, Giuliani, and Lindell to dismiss Dominion’s lawsuits against them. He later consolidated the case so they would move to trial together.

HOT Wisconsin added: “Dominion never had a case in the first place. They filed to direct the attention at the defendants calling them conspiracy theorist. Now they’re in a real Court case and Discovery is looming. Now they’re looking to settle by saying they can’t settle.”
