Passed a "pickleball" court today when it was full.
It is just a concrete handball/football field readapted, sits behind a building.

On the front side of that building there is a very busy two lane road running like 2 meters from the windows.
On the back is the "pickleball" court where there is constant thumping, moaning and swearing of "people" who never did anything moderately exerting or competitive in their lives and this is now their serious life and death thing.

The forsaken inhabitants of that building should start some vigilantism about it all.

 >>/124721/
Very millenial-coded """sport""" similar enough to real sport so it inherits all the mechanics which make the real sport what it is, but with some twist that nerfs it, creates a new niche where the ironic, avantgarde, not engaging in brutish competition behavior, ex-hipster distance-haver millenial can feel right at home displaying his superiority but also some dynamics, like he was drinking his favorite hazy west coast pomegranate IPA while on a silent disco.

Plus, there are like 8 separate courts fitted in that space. There were at least 20 people there. I expected it to be noticeable but it is fucking loud.
You can't open a window in that building, on either side, from March till November during daytime.

 >>/124729/
It calculates the eggs from the expended kj not the total kcal count actually.
Example from my powermeterless ride here I get 3600 kj = 47 eggs from the estimated 231 average watts while it gives me a total of 6500 kcal for the entire activity. Idk why the total kcal count is even that high here but thats besides the point.
for hiking it probably has no watt estimation so I assume it does not differentiate and just goes kj = kcal

 >>/124752/
Yes, one thing is that if it makes people improve their cardiovascular and overall wellbeing - gwan, wave your stupid paddles, do your kung fu or ciabatta, ride your gr*vel bike.

Could just a whole bunch of them, the millennial cohort specifically, stop being immediately elitist about it like they are finally finally living their highschool fantasies about being the sports jock, especially when these people are almost all out of shape.

> In the *Vals Plat* podcast, Segaert speaks at length about the World Championships in Canada. He recounts the day Quinten Hermans and Tiesj Benoot headed out for a training ride. For the occasion, they ventured toward the United States, as the Belgian team was camped nearby. However, the pair had overlooked one thing. "They were stopped there because they hadn't filled out an ESTA in advance," Segaert said. "You need one even when on a bike. The customs officers didn't find it amusing; the riders were stuck there for a few hours filling out all sorts of paperwork. In the end, they weren't allowed to ride a single meter further and returned to Canada."

> Belgian intelligence

What's up with TT bike raping, this thing just feels really odd to me. Up to Lt1, 280-290W everything feels very easy and good, almost easier than being on the regular road bike. Then you cross over LT1 and everything's super hard suddenly, like you just get the urge to stop with the aero tuck and grind on on the basebar... Oh well, something to practice in the winter I guess. Watched the OJ Simpson documentary series, essential viewing to understand the ameriberts I guess

 >>/124788/
Yeah I'm also guessing it's something like that, just beats me how it's as easy as road riding under lt1 (HR and rpe really low) and then much harder over lt1. Like why would the LT1 be the same between the road and TT positions and then the LT2 differ significantly - though only indoors as outdoors I can do FTP intervals on the TT bike with my road watts...

 >>/124791/
Yeah I only watched the first two episodes so still 4.5h to go, but already it's a very good documentary and presenting a strong central argument.

Also Kasper Borremans and Miko Pirinen now riding the MU EC. Hoping for top10 for Kasper and top30 for Miko

Opus 5.5 is doing a pretty good job with the db. No clutter, no single value rows, no complete bullshit design.
I still have to rearrange this or that but it is nice starter. And it ate like 6% of my 5h allowance on the cheap loicense.

I have no doubt I'd be wide eyed in old New York, but in Polska restaurants went to the moon with prices during covid and never went down, even in my smalltown.

For ten bucks you can get a full good quality meal, not an unremarkable but nice sandwich, or a very good pidser or just say fu to some loser who wants to rip you off by not paying that.

And now they are trying to force US-style tipping culture.

 >>/124888/
on the trein the other day I overheard a conversation, where a guy told the other guy that he flew to New York with a friend just to eat at one of the fancy restaurants and it cost them 2000 Swiss Francs (the official currency of the UCI). what made it funny was that they just picked up something from McDonalds to eat on the train (which I hate because it smells).

 >>/124904/
Well that area is very well served by subway so easy to get around to other parts of city from there

Minetta Tavern is right there and is classic NYC spot
John's of Bleecker Street, Prince Street Pizza, and Rubirosa are great pizza spots in that area

 >>/124912/
The /cyc/ office pays me far too much. Bertina and I like fine dining, we try to go somewhere really nice like once a quarter. We went to EMP to celebrate her starting a new job and then again this year when they had a special dinner with chef from Central in Lima, Peru (which was the place that turned us on to fine dining in the first place).

I've never been to burgerlands (except for Hamburg, but that's sandwiched between Ne**erlands and Denmark). My aunt would go to Italian restaurants to get real coffee instead of being subject to diner filter coffee (basically black water).

> Visma | Lease a Bike has pulled off a major coup. The Dutch WorldTeam has signed Seff Van Kerckhove for the coming years. This news was reported by Directvelo and has also been confirmed to Wielerflits. The top Belgian talent had signed a contract with Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale running until the end of 2030, but the yellow-and-black team has exercised a legal option to secure him.

oh boy the contract breakers are at it again

I don't know what is up with me, I haven't changed brake pads in my disc brakes EVER.
Not my mtb nr 1 (frame ded) not my road bike, not my mtb mr 2 (have it only since half a year or so).
I have changed them once in my very old mtb which had rims.

I'm not some braking wizard, it is not like you can brake a bike with engine but I also very rarely break hard.

 >>/124972/
which compound do you use? I tried the org*nic break pad from SRAM which have a very comfortable breaking behaviour but the durability was dogshit I had to switch them every 2000km. the copper ones hold around one season now

Berts, heart rate apparently jumped to over 200 then dropped to 135 then suddenly went up to 220, after an effort 105km into today's ride, surely it's a sensor malfunction haha, right?

 >>/124984/
there once was some austrian dude on the 4/cyc/ one late evening who did some intervals, some shit like 30 seconds on a few minutes off or so, and it destroyed his heart
his heartrate was like a constant 180+ more than an hour after he stopped and he was rage posting from the hospital, as if we destroyed his heart. Which I would have, if I could have of course but he had only himself to blame. Never saw him again, probably dead.

 >>/125084/
Kek, already in Vienna you were doing that. My autism goes in the other direction I'm always trying to find new rides/climbs to changes things a little bit.

How far are you from Aspang? This summer I was checking gravel climbs close by and it felt between there and semmering there was a lot of very kino climbs. Not very clear which forest road you're actually allowed to use, you guys are apparently more restrictive about that than us. I think even Hochwechsel you need to pay to use the trails, I didn't expect you guys to behave like ((that))

 >>/125088/
also when I am in Tyrol I only do hinterhorn kek it is what it is. on the grabbel bike I am more exploratory though

> How far are you from Aspang?
1h by car, but still doable. I should also check out the other 2 gravel climbs you told me this october. probably kino in the forest

jakobsen finishing the race in the front group is already an accomplishment
but there's no way you can change a rider in this short amount of time meaning the dude was just stealing a wage

 >>/125092/
Hinterhorn is such a good one though, hard to beat in that area for a casual ride or if you want to actually feel the legs. I still shit my pants going down in some corners, they might have fixed some of the road but it aint getting better up there.

> Info @Gazzetta_it - According to our sources there are talks about the possibility that @GannaFilippo could join @LidlTrek already in 2027, as we reported on our website. This is a scenario at this stage, not a deal done. Talks in progress
can't wait for the imminent AI receipt

 >>/125165/
Rodriguez alone was a better hjælper than those two would be. Beloki was also getting gud this season.
I'm not saying EF can field a strong team for grand tours but NSN can't field anything stronger so it wont change anything for Carapaz other than his salary.

most talent are getting autofiltered in the youth as the races (aside from Limburg region) are flat as shit, if you're not a polderbully or just have a massive engine it is OVER in general - the important races where you get noticed if you're not a woman are all in hilly races (or TT if you're a gigaaerobullet)

furthermore, the amount of racing license holders in NL has been steadily dropping as it's getting more expensive to keep up (paypigmaxxing from parents with deep pockets/family)who have already been in cycling + the amount of races that can be organized are going down hard due to lack of volunteers, and studying is very accessible here

for the women, a lot of women here have always had equal opportunity in sports compared to the men, and with rowing & ice skating being massive engine-sports here as well it's easier to take a sidestep once you get an injury - all you had to do is learn how to move around in a pedalton and be hardminded

now that funding for the youth women in other countries is going up + teams are more professionalized, the Dutch domination will probably go down relatively

tl;dr - good opportunity for women has always been around, pro cycling is less appealing for men if you're not the right build + financial support from family with a network -> studying is a great and easy option instead of ruining 10 years of your life trying to get past CT level

But I don't really need anything, perhaps something to buy in bulk when it's cheap. Perhaps some GP 5000s because they are becoming increasingly more difficult to obtain in the non-TR version, especially if you fancy the coloured walls editions (not sure if those are /cyc/ certified, thoughbeit)

they need a different naming scheme, actually continental does as well. You can't just name all your tires the same and then add random numbers and letters on there just to confuse the consoomer.
> P Zero Race TLR SpeedCore
is their gp 5k I guess
> P Zero Race TLR RS SpeedCore
is their gp 5k S TR

 >>/125457/
3.7w per tire at ~30 even, scales near linearly with speed I presume.
And yes the UCI mandating tires that are more resistant and have the best possible wet and dry grip would be a logical thing. If it results in slower tires it would also actually do what all the other new useless rules try to kek

they lose to really bad nations like panama and greece or something, I don't watch s*ccer at all but I overheard the latest disaster loss against greece was even worse than the wc loss against panama which should not even be possible.

when I was in California it was perfect, watch while I'm having tea and breakfast in the morning (bye a number would finish at 6 am or earlier); now it's easier to catch races but they finish when I want to be out doing things

 >>/125548/
> The final starters actually became known after the start of today's race! Following the game rules, no changes or subs post-deadline will be made. This follows the rules, and is also fairest solution for directors not online today (it prevents an administrative burden too, obvs!)

 >>/125555/
yeah, when I checked yesterday evening, the startlist on PCS was incomplete, and the official website of the race was even more incomplete (only a handful of riders, lmao)
certainly had me wonder where veloman got his information from, and whether it was accurate

> "I have watched the available footage hundreds of times, and in the shots where the finish line is visible, I repeatedly see a sequence of events that I cannot reconcile with the result. This morning, the race commissaires and the federation's technical staff explained to me how the photo finish works and the criteria used to interpret it. So, I am not asking for another explanation."

> "I am asking for the photo finish image that corresponds exactly to the actual finish line. I want to be able to see, beyond any doubt, how our wheels cross the precise point where the finish is located according to the regulations," said Ciccone. "When a European title is decided by 2.8 thousandths of a second, I consider that a fair request."

> "Once again: I am not questioning Remco's class or his extraordinary race. I am asking for something very simple: to see the photo finish at the actual finish line. If that footage confirms the result, there is nothing more to be said. But as long as that isn't the case, the question remains unanswered for me," Ciccone concluded.

what's he talking about, does he not know how it works?

Sometimes the activity is synced to garmin connect in a matter of seconds, sometimes you need to reboot both devices, run around your house 3 times and pray to moloch for it to sync.

he isn't riding, don't know where you're getting this

> A family celebration is on the agenda for Tuesday: the graduation ceremony of his wife Oumi Rayane’s eldest brother.

> On Wednesday, Evenepoel travels to Italy. A press event may well be on the schedule there, but naturally, his main objective is to recon the course for the Tour of Lombardy between Wednesday and Friday. “Because there’s another important race coming up on Saturday,” he said, beaming.

I once read somewhere that there is a UCI rule for this exact case, when the winner can't be decided through photo the two contestants do a 1vs1 race like 1 km from the line. This is repeated until there is a clear winner.

 >>/125684/
Yes the camera is the line and is placed at the black line, on the absolute edge to have the contrast of the black wheel with the white line.

But I do think that amstel camera was setup badly and they fucked up with putting a wrong red line on it looking like the most shady fuckers around
