The incredibly aggressive shilling of sturdy on 4chan, especially on /trash/ and /gif/, but also in second-hand places such as kiwifarms, soyjak and telegram groups caused such a rapid influx of new users that they weren't able to assimilate to ttg culture and rather ended up changing it. I doubt even 30% of the active posters nowadays knew of a time before sturdy
