I think I have a good method going for cleaning bulk amounts of rusty/dirty hardware.
Bucket 1: trisodium phosphate, the strongest water based cleaner for grease I can get my hands on.
Bucket 2: muriatic acid, cheap and cuts rust fast
Bucket 3: engine coolant + some car wash soap, works well for a final washing and provides some corrosion protection.
