I've been using shotcut lately, haven't tried to do anything "mid-complex" as Doc put it though, only cropping, cutting, syncing audio that sort of stuff. It works well and never crashes. I haven't used kdenlive in a long long time precisely because it used to love crashing and taking everything with it, but I'm sure it's much more reliable now
