I’ve spoken to the Chief Constable of the Police Service of Northern Ireland to convey my thanks to them and the frontline emergency services for their bravery in keeping people safe. I’ve also spoken to the First Minister and Deputy First Minister to discuss the ongoing situation.
Appealing for calm must be the priority, and that is what I urge now. We must let the police get on with their work.

KUWAIT TIMES @kuwaittimesnews - Kuwait temporarily closed its airspace early on Thursday after Iranian attacks raised concerns over regional aviation safety, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) said.
The closure took effect at 4:50 a.m. local time, with flights being diverted to alternative airports until the threat subsides, the DGCA said in a statement.
The authority said the move was a precautionary measure taken in line with established safety procedures to ensure the security of air navigation and passengers.
The DGCA said the decision was prompted by Iranian attacks and the potential risks they pose to civil aviation in the region. It added that it was closely monitoring developments in coordination with relevant Kuwaiti authorities.
Kuwait’s airspace will reopen and air traffic will resume once the situation stabilizes and the threat is deemed to have passed by the relevant authorities, the statement said.
The DGCA urged passengers and airlines to follow official updates and comply with all instructions and guidelines.
