Viva Frei @thevivafrei - The irony is had Karmelo Anthony “retreated”, gone to the police, and asked them to charge Austin Metcalfe with assault, they would have laughed him out of the precinct.
The other irony is that had Karmelo Anthony said to Austin Metcalfe “put a finger on me and I will stab you in the heart”, Karmelo would have been guilty of uttering a threat.
It’s murder.
Pure and simple, and nothing in the evidence - even that presented by the defense - has attenuated that conclusion.
It’s just an indescribable tragedy that we are discussing this as a matter of law, when as a matter of life, there is a dead kid and family and friends devastated for the rest of their lives.

Yes, Austin Metcalf was likely picking on Karmelo Anthony (in the same way anyone who’s gone to high school has witnessed amongst teenaged jocks from rival schools)
& Yes, Karmelo Anthony is guilty of murder because he went WAY too far. You don’t put a knife into someone’s chest because they shoved you.
Karmelo’s life was not in jeopardy. His worst case scenario was a busted lip and a black eye had he thrown hands (although wisdom would’ve been to just leave the tent).
So tragic to basically see two young lives ended over teenaged banter.
