U.S. Army @USArmy - Crandall continued serving in the Vietnam conflict with distinction until he suffered a broken back in a helicopter crash. He went on to finish a storied Army career, retiring in 1977 as a lieutenant colonel. In 2007, Crandall was awarded the Medal of Honor for his actions in the Ia Drang Valley. He was honorably promoted to colonel in 2010.
