Sergio Gor: Thank you, sir. And Marco Rubio is here. Any advice for a great Secretary of State?
-
POTUS: Well, Marco is the greatest.
I mean, he's going down as the greatest Secretary of State in the history of the U.S., and it's good.
You have some big ones here.
When you have Marco, Sergio, when you have Marco, you're getting the big stuff.
Marco, go have a good time. I know you're going to represent us well.
Everybody enjoy your evening and it's an honor to talk, say hello to Prime Minister Modi let him know I'm a big fan.
-
Sergio Gor: Thank you, sir.
Have a great day.
Thank you. We appreciate you. Thank you.
How 'bout that!
-
Announcer: So this is even as Marco Rubio is currently in the country.
These are visuals from the U.S. Embassy Independence Day event where the U.S. President Donald Trump joined over the phone line.
And here's what he had to say about India.
He said that "he loves India" and "loves Prime Minister Modi."
So is Trump going the extra mile to woo India?
That's the question.
My colleague Mayank joins us on the broadcast with the details.
And Mayank, among the strategic talks that are currently underway with the United States, Trump going on to say at an event he loves India and he loves Prime Minister Modi.
What do we make of this statement of the US President?
-
Mayank: These are really interesting statements.
But then they need to be seen in conjunction with other things which are happening all around.
And that starts with the way the visit of U.S. President Donald Trump was with China.
And immediately after that, President Putin, who was in China.
And also we need to understand the quad for which Secretary of State Marco Rubio is in India.
It was supposed to be held last year and ,it was, it now it is taking place and might begin tomorrow.
So, these are very significant things and the way the President is bringing out and the way he said it, it really becomes important to reimpose the faith or the kind of relationship which was rewinding between India and U.S.
It needs to be reset anddoes the events which I have new enumerated and the things which I have developments which
I have told these statements also need to be seen in conjunction with that.
Also what is important is actually lots of things in terms of West Asia, India has been affected directly and Asia also has been affected directly. And in this case, if let's say whatever happens that side, IMEC is also involved in that.
At the larger plank, I'm bringing out these different things so as to paint a picture which gives a larger standing to our viewers.
So IMEC, which is the passage through India-Middle East-Europe Corridor that is very important for which also these talks are to be held.
