By eliminating interchange points, the combined system will improve speed, reliability and efficiency – enhancing rail’s ability to compete with trucking.
He also reinforced Union Pacific’s commitments, including maintaining open gateways, preserving customer choice and honoring the unprecedented union jobs-for-life guarantee. Gehringer noted the merger builds on the strong performance of both railroads and will be executed through a disciplined integration approach focused on safety, service and long-term value for customers and the communities served.
