House Speaker Mike Johnson & Dem. Leader Hakeem Jeffries Hold Holocaust Remembrance Ceremony. House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA), House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries, and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) delivered remarks honoring the late Benjamin Ferencz during a Holocaust remembrance ceremony from the U.S. Capitol. Mr. Ferencz, who was the last surviving prosecutor from the Nuremberg Trials until his death in 2023 at the age of 103, was posthumously awarded the Congressional Gold Medal during the ceremony. Also delivering remarks were Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY), Reps. Joe Wilson (R-SC) and Lois Fankel (D-FL), and several Holocaust survivors who spoke on their experiences during the Holocaust.
