Craig Caplan @CraigCaplan - Senate Banking Committee today approved its version of the Clarity Act creating a federal regulatory framework for digital assets, on a 15-9 vote, favorably sending it to the Senate floor. Democratic Senators Ruben Gallego (D-AZ) and Angela Alsobrooks (D-MD) joined Republicans in voting Yes. The House passed its version of the bill last year in July 294-134.

Craig Caplan @CraigCaplan - Thune filed cloture on two of President Trump's U.S. District Court nominees, attorney & former federal prosecutor Sheria Clarke to serve on the U.S. District Court for South Carolina & Evan Rikhye for 10-year term on the U.S. District Court in the Virgin Islands, setting up votes for next week. Rikhye currently is a senior counsel for Walmart but previously served as assistant U.S. Attorney on St. Croix 2008-11 & 2021-24.

Senate just approved Louisiana GOP Senator John Kennedy's resolution by unanimous consent to make this change only impacting Senators. It does not apply to House members. Senators will receive their withheld pay once the government shutdown ends.
