U.S. Coast Guard @USCG - @USCG finalized a $3.5B contract with Davie Defense for construction & delivery of 5 Arctic Security Cutters (ASCs), a new class of polar icebreakers that will strengthen America’s maritime dominance in the Arctic.
Using nearly $25B provided by the historic 2025 budget reconciliation, the Coast Guard has already ordered $13B+ in new fleet assets & capabilities, demonstrating our commitment to modernizing acquisition, delivering next-generation technology, & revitalizing American shipbuilding.
The ASC program fulfills @POTUS’ directive to rapidly expand the nation’s Arctic fleet by delivering 11 ASCs, while bringing Arctic shipbuilding expertise back to the U.S. & strengthening industrial capability and workforce development at U.S. shipyards.
