Doug TenNapel @DougTenNapel - Belief is not supposed to be the wild west. People act like just because they believe something, it makes it true. That's not what belief is for. 1/3 of Americans believing that the Trump assassination attempt was staged shows how dangerous belief can be.
I believe in a resurrecting God-man and the inerrancy of scripture, but I didn't come to it by wishing it to be true. I don't care what you or I believe because belief is not what creates the truth.
Justified true belief demands something actually be true before it warrants belief. If the laws of logic are false, then it doesn't matter how hard we believe them, they would still be false.
We love to believe, even where there is no justification, we believe because that is the connection between a person and submitting ourselves to the truth. That UFO belief has become just another pagan religion these days does not make UFOs real. A mass belief in false things is as dangerous as a pandemic (but far more common) as we see in the past where believing false things can have a massive body count.
What we put our faith in is more important than faith itself. Put your faith in the claims of this culture and you should be concerned. When have most people ever been wrong? Most of the time.
