White House Press Pool Reports @WHPressPool - In-Town Pool #7 - Event concludes
President’s remarks concluded at 1:26pm.
POTUS paid tribute to the following military mothers (please excuse any misspellings of names):
Brittany Stevenson
Melanie Wolf
Lt. Col. Amanda Collazo (Air Force)
A lot of smiles and laughs from attendees as POTUS joked about how autocorrect caused him to often spell FLOTUS’ first name wrong (“Melanie”), when introducing one of the moms.
POTUS discussed investments in building military weapons and said every branch of Armed Forces is “setting records,” including the U.S. space force which he noted is leading the world. He also took credit for highest recruitment in Armed Forces.
The president took a decent amount of time to discuss crime in DC, taking credit for its decline, and the admin’s targeting of drug trafficking by sea.

White House Press Pool Reports @WHPressPool - First Lady Melania Trump Honors Military Mothers, the Soul of our Nation
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
“I often think about the brave people who make the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.” First Lady Melania Trump opened her remarks at today’s White House tribute to military mothers, in advance of Mother’s Day. The First Lady honored the fallen Service Members from the 103rd Sustainment Command, who were killed on March 1, 2026, at Port Shuaiba in Kuwait while supporting Operation Epic Fury.
Mrs. Trump has long been an ardent supporter of America’s military and its families. With Mother’s Day approaching, she asserted, “It is these military mothers who find themselves alone, awake in their thoughts, in the darkest hours of the night. Of course, we must also remember the mothers with a spouse overseas, praying for a safe return so their family can become whole once again.” The First Lady called for military mothers to find strength while their loved ones defend our nation’s liberty.
The First Lady also took time to address the important role mothers play within America, sharing that “mothers build the moral foundation of our families.” She then introduced her husband President Donald J. Trump, America’s Commander in Chief, asserting that his empathy rises above the office and that he is a compassionate leader who never forgets every American soldier is someone’s child.
The celebration brought together military mothers from across the nation representing all six branches of service. Mrs. Trump’s remarks demonstrated a deep appreciation for military mothers’ boundless love, quiet power, and unwavering commitment to both country and familyvalues emulated in the First Lady’s initiatives focused on child well-being and education.
First Lady Melania Trump’s full remarks are provided below, as prepared for delivery.
America’s Mothers, the Soul of Our Nation
I would like to extend a very warm welcome to our Vice President, JD Vance, and his wife, Usha Vance. It is a pleasure to be joined today by Secretary McMahon and Mrs. Hegseth. I am also honored to welcome Mrs. Melody Wolfe and Lorraine Hoak today.
And, to my Chief of Staff, Hayley Harrison, who is preparing to welcome her second child into the world. Hayley, you are a wonderful mother, and I wish you and your growing family all great things.
I often think about the brave people who make the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.
