White House Press Pool Reports @WHPressPool - VP Pool Report #9 Iowa arrival ✈️
Air Force 2 was wheels up at 2:40 pm. There were no visitors to the press cabin during the flight.
We landed at Des Moines International Airport at 3:41 p.m. CDT. It is overcast and 58 degrees.
Rep. Nunn was waiting to greet the VP at the bottom of the stairs of the plane, along with Colonel Joseph "Kidd" Witt and Chief Master Sgt. Brian Wiedmaier.
The VP and 6-year-old Vivek left the plane at 3:52 pm. Vance shook hands with Nunn and the other greeters and introduced them to his son.
The VP and Nunn then went to meet with two Iowa-based Gold Star families waiting on the tarmac. Pool has inquired about their names.The VP gave handshakes and hugs and Vivek gave a fist bump to members of one family.
Vance and Nunn then went to greet members of the Iowa Air National Guard who were lined up in formation between two helicopters.
"At ease, please," Vance said to them.
Vance, Nunn and Vivek then took a picture with the Guard members.
VP did not make any comments to press.
Pool was then moved to the vans as VP got into his car. Motorcade began rolling at 4:04 pm.
We have a drive of about 15-20 minutes to the venue.

The VP’s motorcade left the fundraiser by 2:21pm, according to the VP’s office, and arrived at Will Rogers International Airport at 2:24 p.m.
Vance and Vivek got out of the car and Vance waved at the press. He did not stop to talk and waved again at the top of the stairs. He was inside the plane at 2:26 pm.
We are rolling and AF2 will be wheels up for Des Moines International Airport shortly.
