If I had been chosen at the DOJ presser, I would have used my question to move this part of the story forward. 
The FBI review or "scrub" of the suspect's electronics is crucial to revealing evidence of advance planning,  pre-meditation,  communications with outside individuals/parties.
How early did the suspect set the plot into motion?
