USCCA @USCCA - What Just Happened in Virginia Should Concern Every Gun Owner ...
🔹 Gov. Abigail Spanberger signed some new gun-control measures into law
🔹 She also made last-minute changes to several major gun bills before they are fully finalized
🔹 The assault-weapons bill was narrowed to exclude some semiautomatic hunting firearms
🔹 The bill also reportedly would not apply to firearms or magazines lawfully owned before July 1, 2026
🔹 The home-storage bill was changed so compliance can include a locking device that makes the gun inoperable
🔹 A separate bill would raise the handgun purchase age from 18 to 21, with exceptions for military and some law-enforcement trainees
🔹 Another measure requires handguns left in unattended vehicles to be secured
🔹 Lawmakers still have to decide whether to accept or reject her amendments
Bottom line: Virginia is pushing a major new gun-control package, and gun owners should be paying close attention. Some of the worst provisions were narrowed at the last minute, but this is still a serious reminder that your rights can be chipped away piece by piece if you stay on the sidelines.
➡ What’s next
🔹 The Virginia General Assembly is scheduled to reconvene on April 22
🔹 Lawmakers will vote on whether to accept or reject Spanberger’s amendments
🔹 If they accept the changes, the amended versions move forward
🔹 If they reject them, the bills can be sent back in their original form for the governor’s final action under Virginia’s reconvened-session process
🔹 That means there is still another key round of voting and maneuvering ahead
🔹 For gun owners, this fight is not over yet — the next big moment is what happens in Richmond at the reconvened session
This is another example of how often gun laws can change—and how complicated they are.

U.S. Coast Guard @USCG - Protecting our homeland through Operation Pacific Viper.
Today in Miami, the crew of USCG Cutter Tampa offloaded 3,825 lbs of cocaine worth an estimated $28.7M. The drugs offloaded today were seized in two interdictions in the Eastern Pacific Ocean through Operation Pacific Viper.
Since launching this operation in early August, the Coast Guard has interdicted 215K+ lbs of cocaine, and apprehended 160 suspected narco-terrorists. The Coast Guard is bringing every capability at our disposal to scour maritime smuggling routes, counter narco-terrorism, and defend American communities from illicit narcotics.
