LOCAL MAN SENTENCED TO FEDERAL PRISON FOR ALIEN SMUGGLING
A 47-year-old Corpus Christi man has been ordered to federal prison for attempting to smuggle two illegal aliens through the Intracoastal Waterway.
@CBPAMO, @USCG, U.S. Border Patrol, and ICE - @HSI_HQ coordinated efforts to apprehend him.
When caught, he jumped into the water to escape. Upon retrieval, authorities found a firearm in his jacket and two illegal aliens hidden on board.
He will serve 36 months in federal prison, immediately followed by three years of supervised release. In handing down the sentence, the court noted his prior smuggling conduct and possession of a firearm on two occasions despite being a felon. He’ll remain in custody until transfer.
