DataRepublican (small r) @DataRepublican - Clint is an insider. Senator Thune betrayed the entire institution of the United States Senate.
Quote
Clint Brown @DissidentClint
Senate leadership sent notice of the DHS bill at 12:55am. Then a voice vote was held at 2:19am.
The notice said, “with a substitute amendment” and gave no description of the substitute.
The legislative language of the substitute was not sent around to GOP Senate staff. (Idk about Dems.)
If you’re a staffer watching your email at that hour (some were!) you had to request the language of the bill. Track down leadership staff to find out how quickly this is moving. Try to read and understand it quickly. Understand how it changed from the original. Get your boss on the phone and explain it. Talk to other staffers to figure out if there’s a coalition to block it — they don’t know — their boss is trying to decide what to do too. Whoops, your one hour is up, the bill is passing and nothing you can do.
Purposefully sneaky. They can do this kind of maneuver to not fund immigration enforcement. They would never dream of doing it for your priorities.

DataRepublican (small r) @DataRepublican - They seriously think that government-funded media is the only true independent media.
Media financed by "neutral" institutions = independent of strongmen & independent of corporations, y'see.

DataRepublican (small r) @DataRepublican - I could have gone the rest of my life without knowing that.

DataRepublican (small r) @DataRepublican - Also "No Kings" is a tell in and of itself.
The reason they are protraying Trump as like a king is because Trump isn't consulting multilateral institutions like every other President.
"No Kings" really means "we're throwing a tantrum because we're not the king."

DataRepublican (small r) @DataRepublican - Senators won't posture against their own majority leader.

DataRepublican (small r) @DataRepublican - I don’t think this is the flex you intended.

DataRepublican (small r) @DataRepublican - lol, no, it usually starts with "why is this pol doing that, it doesn't make sense" and going down a rabbit hole of research.
For instance I asked @RyanMNeuhaus a bunch of questions about procedure, etc before writing yesterday's letter to Thune.

DataRepublican (small r) @DataRepublican - I was thinking more along the lines of being told that this was Trump's idea. Thune lied by omission in creating this scheme. We can't rule out complete outright lies.

DataRepublican (small r) @DataRepublican - IMO, he was told or sold something that he shouldn't have believed. Let's see what he says.

DataRepublican (small r) @DataRepublican - . @LeaderJohnThune has done more to destroy trust in the institution of Congress than any person in living history.
If the "democracy" crowd weren't hypocrites, they'd be calling for the metaphorical tarring of Thune. But because our institutions want ideological iron fist rule to implement their own tyranny -- not actual consent of the governed -- they continue to love Thune.
