White House Press Pool Reports @WHPressPool - Travel note 8: Memphis Safe Task Force event / POTUS enters
After a very short walk and multiple attempts to set up WiFi, Pool is now set up at the back of an empty Air National Guard hangar where a stage has been erected for the law enforcement roundtable.
Members of the task force entered to applause, while National Guard soldiers who'd been seated on bleachers set up on either side of the stage stood once the task force entered the venue and sat at their places on stage.
The audience appears to consist mostly of National Guard MPs (identifiable by their MP patches) along with some federal law enforcement (including at least one wearing a windbreaker that indicates the wearer is a HSI agent).
Trump entered the venue at 1139 CT to "God Bless the USA" and applause.
The event is being livestreamed/broadcast at all the usual spots.

White House Press Pool Reports @WHPressPool - President Trump’s ‘Memphis Safe Task Force’ Delivers Crushing Blow to Crime
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
03/23/26
President Trump’s ‘Memphis Safe Task Force’ Delivers Crushing Blow to Crime
Today, President Donald J. Trump travels to Memphis to highlight the remarkable progress in restoring safety to a city long ranked (https://www.wsmv.com/2025/09/05/this-tennessee-city-has-highest-violent-crime-rate-country-see-where-your-home-ranks/) among the nation’s most dangerous (https://www.whitehouse.gov/articles/2025/09/president-trump-announces-bold-action-to-crush-violent-crime-in-memphis/). Under President Trump’s leadership, the Memphis Safe Task Force (https://www.whitehouse.gov/fact-sheets/2025/09/fact-sheet-president-donald-j-trump-restores-law-and-order-in-memphis/) a decisive, aggressive federal intervention involving the National Guard and a host of federal agencies has crushed violent crime where the policies of Democrats had failed.
The results are undeniable proof that strong leadership, tough enforcement, and zero tolerance for criminals deliver real public safety and transform communities.
Since operations began, the Memphis Safe Task Force has driven a massive drop in crime:
• More than 7,400 arrests, including hundreds tied to homicides, sexual offenses, gang violence, and drug trafficking.
• 1,219 illegal firearms seized, getting deadly weapons off the streets and out of the hands of thugs who have terrorized the community.
• 150 missing children safely located, bringing families back together and rescuing the most vulnerable.
Crime statistics tell the story of clear success:
• Overall crime in Memphis is down (https://www.fox13memphis.com/news/president-trump-to-visit-memphis-as-debate-grows-over-safe-task-force-impact/article_4fca6277-ae0e-4d32-990e-bcd47106a750.html) more than 43% compared to the same period last year a dramatic drop from the bloodshed ushered in by the failed policies of the past.
+ Motor vehicle thefts are down 67%.
+ Robberies are down 51%.
+ Sexual assaults are down 38%.
+ Homicides are down 35%.
+ Burglaries are down 32%.
+ Aggravated assaults are down 31%.
• Last year, the city recorded (https://www.memphispolice.org/news/memphis-sees-significant-crime-reduction-in-2025-focus-shifts-to-sustaining-progress/) fewer than 200 murders for the first time since 2019, with shootings dropping nearly 40% from the previous year.
