But the law actually states you can’t control prices and decide which medications are covered (being a PBM) while also running a pharmacy that profits from those prices and covered medications. CVS apparently makes millions more acting as the PBM (Pharmacy Benefit Manager) middleman, so it benefits them to close 133 stores. That should open doors for local pharmacies in some areas. The big chains like Walgreens, Kroger, Walmart, etc., will pick up the rest of the business in the cities.
