White House Press Pool Reports @WHPressPool - VP Pool Report #6 — Vance remarks conclude
In his nearly 30-minute speech the VP promoted the administration's tax and trade policies and encouraged voters to back Republican candidates in November's midterm elections, saying the president's party had made Americans "richer."
"In November, it's going to be very simple. Do we support the people who made us hundreds and hundreds of dollars richer, or do we support the people who had us hundreds and hundreds of dollars poorer?" Vance asked. "Let's support the people who made us richer, more prosperous and more secure."
Vance concluded his remarks with comments on the attack on Temple Israel in nearby Bloomfield Township, Michigan, last week, saying: "When something happens to any member of our American family, and this particular incident happened to Jewish members of our American family, it is something that all of us have to stand up and say, it’s disgusting, it’s unacceptable.”
He then took a series of questions from local reporters on gas prices, US-Canada trade, domestic terror threats, ICE, election law and Joe Kent’s resignation. Will send key quotes soon.
Event ended at 12:28PM EDT.
