Called counterterrorism official who resigned in protest over Iran war a "very nice guy" but "he was very weak on security."
"It's a good thing that he's out. Iran is not a threat?…Iran was a tremendous threat."
Q any repercussions for NATO and will still visit China?
Trump: "We're making it in 5 or 6 weeks" (China)
Re NATO repercussions:
US has spent trillions on NATO and helped with Ukraine yet "When they dont help us that's certainly something we should think about" and "i dont need Congress for that decision" but "I have nothing currently in mind."

White House Press Pool Reports @WHPressPool - pool report #2/meeting with Irish prime minister
The pool entered the Oval Office at 11:47.
The president is meeting with Ireland's Taoiseach, Micheál Martin.
Chit chat so far.
Note the press office didn't actually call the pool to gather until 11:40, though most had been standing for an hour at that point.

White House Press Pool Reports @WHPressPool - Foreign Pool Report #1: Background for Taoiseach visit
Good morning. I will be handling the foreign press pool for the White House visit of Taoiseach Micheál Martin today.
The Taoiseach, Ireland’s prime minister, arrived in the United States last Friday, beginning his trip in Philadelphia before traveling to Washington for the main St. Patrick’s Day events. Today’s schedule began with a breakfast at Vice President JD Vance’s residence, followed by a bilateral meeting with President Donald Trump at the White House. Martin then heads to Capitol Hill for the Friends of Ireland luncheon hosted by House Speaker Mike Johnson, before returning to the White House for the shamrock ceremony with several hundred guests. He is due to depart early tomorrow for Brussels.
Martin, born in Cork in 1960, is the leader of Fianna Fáil, a centrist Irish party. He previously served as Taoiseach from 2020 to 2022 and returned to office in January 2025 under Ireland’s coalition system. This is his second visit to meet President Trump, after last year’s.
U.S. Ambassador to Ireland Edward Walsh recently said President Trump may visit Ireland in September during the Irish Open, which will be held from September 10 to 13 at Trump’s golf resort in Doonbeg. Trump last visited Ireland as president in 2019, when he stayed at the same property.
