Thank you so much for your support the past couple of days. The incredible outpouring of sympathy, prayers and offers to help have been completely overwhelming and amazingly gratifying. I feel blessed to know all of you.
The demons on the other side of this affair knew exactly what they were doing. They sought to wreak havoc on my life, my family's lives and to destroy me.
They failed. I will remain indomitable.
However.
I am burying my brother this week. As deeply appreciative as I am for your support, may I politely ask that you try to dial back this controversy for a few days, to the extent possible?
(I know this may be impossible, that some lies must go answered, and please always defend yourselves against lies directed at you.)
I know the demons will not listen, but I know my friends will.
Thank you again. I will provide my usual fire again soon, but right now my family and I are in deep mourning and would be most appreciative if this social media world we created would allow me to focus on what's most important for just a few days--family.
You will hear all of my unvarnished thoughts on this matter once I put my brother to rest.

If you are an Xaholic you probably know that a controversy has ensued in recent days involving an article I published in American Greatness and a counter article that was published in War on the Rocks.
This controversy has spun out of control, with me, my family, my former law firm, the author of the WoTR article and the CEO and staff of WoTR receiving death threats and/or numerous instances of doxxing of highly personal information and cyberstalking or harassing behavior.
If you are engaged in such behavior, you are committing a crime under many state statutes.
For my benefit, my family’s benefit and for the benefit of those in my private and professional circles, PLEASE STOP.
For the benefit of Ryan Evans, Brad Duplessis and the staff of WoTR, PLEASE STOP.
Most of all, for YOUR OWN BENEFIT (if you are someone who engaged in this reprehensible behavior), PLEASE STOP so you do not wind up in prison.  If you have already done this, delete all harassing posts directed at me, my family, my former law firm, Ryan, Brad, WoTR or anybody else you may have harassed.
At this point I do not care how or why this started.  A deescalation is absolutely necessary.  The issue of War College reform is too important to turn into a circus freak show, and both Ryan and I have pledged to move this issue forward professionally.
I have asked Ryan to post a similar request on his feed.
