FischerKing @FischerKing64 - I helped an older relative buy a new computer. He’s smart but knows nothing about this stuff. When we were trying to set it up, it turned out he didn’t know any of his passwords. His prior computer/OS had suggested all his passwords that were ‘hard to crack’ and then memorized them. So he didn’t even need to know what was going on - the passwords were always filled in.
But when his computer died and we had to figure all this out - let’s just say it was an enormous pain in the ass that took up my Sunday. This advancing technology is good for people. And making it easy to use for people who don’t understand it is also good. But then they hit a roadblock and have no idea what is even going on. There are old people who don’t have a younger relative like myself to help - makes me wonder how much of their data they lose, how they even navigate all this stuff. I’m not too old and I don’t even like it.
