This very last fuel-burning event occurred on the evening of Thursday, Sept.12, 2002. 
They were ordered to get rid of the rest of the JP7 SR 71 fuel, so it was agreed…. Let’s burn it.! To experience a J58 in full burner close-up and personal is hard to describe. Picture a gigantic blow torch, 40 inches in diameter, putting out a blue-yellow-orange flame over 50 feet long. Imagine standing 30 feet from this, feeling the vibration and heat. 
You wear foam plugs and earmuffs. Afterward, your ears still ring because the sound is conducted through your body. The back half of the engine transforms from dull gray to bright orange, seemingly transparent. 
The flame was a three-dimensional diamond-shaped shock pattern about every two feet. 
This flame is both frightening and beautiful, an amazing demonstration of perfectly controlled power. 
And to think - this was done with 1950s technology

Hans Mahncke @HansMahncke - This is very sad news. Jeff was the only person within DOJ hierarchy in 2020 who was not corrupt and was at least willing to examine the glaring election irregularities. And of course, he was absolutely right to do so, as Fulton County has made painfully obvious.
His reward for doing that was that he was relentlessly hounded by the autopen regime, which sought not only to strip him of his law license but to put him behind bars. Who can forget the spectacle of federal agents raiding his home while he was still in his underwear. The whole episode was, and remains, totally beyond the pale.
I only wish Jeff had been given a more prominent role after 2024, although I understand that with some of these horrific Senators it is very difficult to get anyone confirmed who is actually prepared to shake things up.
