White House Press Pool Reports @WHPressPool - WH in-town pool report #7/ POTUS on Iran
Wearing dark suit, white shirt and purple tie, POTUS entered the Indian Treaty Room at 3.16pm and sat down at the center of the table.
He began by talking about Iran with comments including: “We’re doing very well on the war front.”
He said the Obama nuclear deal was “one of the worst deals ever made”.
But: “We’re in a very strong position now.”
He said of Iran: “Their leadership is rapidly going. Everyone that wants to be a leader ends up dead.
“Their missiles are being wiped out rapidly. Their launchers are being wiped out.”
On the need to deny Iran a nuclear weapon: “When crazy people have nuclear weapons, bad things happen.”
POTUS said of the US offensive: “It’s a great display of military strength. We rebuilt the military during my first term and we’re using it a little bit more than I thought.”
He went on to mention Venezuela, then turned to the ratepayer protection pledge. Event is ongoing. More detailed quotations to come.

White House Press Pool Reports @WHPressPool - WH in-town pool report #8/ POTUS on AI
POTUS’s ratepayer protection pledge event in the Indian Treaty Room is ongoing. Energy Secretary Chris Wright is sitting to his right, with Mike Johnson next to Wright. Six men in the audience are wearing construction worker helmets.
Introducing an executive from Elon Musk’s xAI, POTUS said: “Say hello to a special person.”
POTUS blamed his predecessor for high inflation, describing the Biden administration as “the worst administration in the history of our country”.
He said: “We inherited a total mess.”
POTUS said the big tech companies are making five major commitments to keep energy prices down. “They’re going to be making their own electricity. They’re not going to be taking from the grid.”
POTUS continued: “Basically we’re building massive amounts of electricity and you’re not paying for it at all… Your electric costs are going to be going down. Unfortunately it’s going to take a little time to get there.”
On a digression, POTUS repeated his claim that the 2020 election was “rigged and stolen”.

White House Press Pool Reports @WHPressPool - WH in-town pool report #9/ Pool leaves, no questions
Big tech energy event continued. POTUS said: “It took me six months to convince people I was serious about this.”
“We don’t do wind because it’s a loser… How many wind farms have you seen lately in China?”
“I say natural gas; clean, beautiful coal.” He joked that in the Trump administration you’re not allowed to say “coal”, only “clean, beautiful coal”, but on one occasion Energy Secretary Chris Wright had done it to excess and had to be reined in.
POTUS then introduced Wright, who spoke for a few minutes before handing over to Speaker Johnson, who said: “Only President Trump has the gravitas to assemble all these great leaders in one room.”
Johnson commented: “This is a win, win, win across the board… America’s back, Mr President.”
Ohio Senator Jon Husted spoke next. A representative of Meta announced a pilot training programme in Ohio related to data centers. There were several more speakers.
