Clark Kent @clark_kent10935 - Good morning from Virginia.
"Unhappy Boston! see thy sons deplore, / Thy hallow'd walks besmear'd with guiltless gore."
— Opening lines of Paul Revere’s poem accompanying his engraving.
On this day, March 5, in 1770, the Boston Massacre unfolded on the snowy streets of Boston, where British soldiers fired into a tense crowd of colonists, killing five (including Crispus Attucks, often remembered as the first martyr of the Revolution) and wounding several others.
What began as taunts, snowballs, and rising frustrations over taxes and British troops in the city escalated into a tragic clash that fueled outrage across the colonies. Paul Revere's famous engraving and the efforts of patriots like Samuel Adams turned it into a powerful symbol of tyranny, helping ignite the spark toward American independence.
Today we remember those who lost their lives and reflect on how one fateful night helped pave the path to liberty. Freedom isn't free—let's honor their sacrifice by staying vigilant and grateful.
Have a great day, everyone!

Councilwoman Vickie Paladino @VickieforNYC - On Monday, the City Council ethics committee, under political pressure from the Speaker, moved forward with an unconstitutional scheme to violate my first amendment rights by charging me with ‘disorderly conduct’ for constitutionally protected political speech on social media.
Make no mistake, this mockery of the first amendment will not stand. My legal team will respond to this egregious violation of my rights swiftly.
To be clear, I have every right under the United States Constitution to engage in political speech on any platform I see fit. No administrative policy supersedes the Constitution, and no government entity may sanction an elected official — or anyone else — for participation in political discourse in the public square, online or otherwise.
None of the posts cited by the committee contain threats of violence. No elected official, ideology, or religion is above criticism and debate. I have every right to speak my mind on social media without fear of retaliation by my government, as does every American.
The fact that this egregious disregard for the Constitution was allowed to proceed to this point is a stain on our Council, and on New York City. Actions like this are meant to intimidate both elected officials and individuals against speaking their conscious on matters of public import and controversy, and the chilling effect on speech is undeniable.
This is a core first amendment case. It is imperative not only that this charge is dismissed, but that an example is made sufficient to guarantee no future political body is tempted to go down this road ever again.
