Julie Kelly @julie_kelly2 - NEW: Department of Transportation audit of Illinois Secretary of State's office finds major noncompliance related to the issuance of non-domiciled commercial driver's licenses and learning permits. DOT found that Illinois Secretary of State's office has issued more than 10,000 unexpired non-domiciled (foreigners of varying immigration status) CDLs and CLPs.
DOT has ordered Illinois Secretary of State's office to "immediately pause the issuance of all new, renewed, transferred, amended, corrected, reprinted, or upgraded non-domiciled CLPs and CDLs until FMCSA provides written confirmation that the State’s corrective action plan has been accepted and implemented." DOT also threatening to withhold federal highway funds.
