Walter Wilkins, 24, of Weslaco, TX, was sentenced in January to 23 years in prison for sexually extorting kids by luring them with vape pens.
The investigation began when the mother of a 13-year-old girl reported that her child had been sexually assaulted.
Wilkins lured the girl and sexually exploited her in exchange for vape pens when he was out on bond and facing prosecution for two other cases of sexually abusing children. He picked her up in a white SUV and sexually assaulted her and videotaped the incident.
He also blackmailed her — telling her that he would show the child sexual abuse material he created of her to her classmates if she refused to participate in further abuse.
Another girl told police that Wilkins offered to sell her drugs, but when she couldn’t pay, he sexually assaulted her.
“Wilkins’ actions represent the worst kind of predatory behavior, targeting and exploiting vulnerable children in our community,” said acting Special Agent in Charge John A. Pasciucco, who heads the ICE HSI San Antonio field office. “HSI, together with our law enforcement partners, worked tirelessly to uncover the full scope of Wilkins’ crimes and ensure he faces justice.”
