National Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) @GLFOP - Polk County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a call about domesticated rabbits dumped in a field near Sligh Road and Majestic View Drive in Lakeland. With Sgt. Carmack leading the effort, Deputies Stark, Bogle, Torres, and Mina located seven friendly, furry rabbits in need of care.
Thanks to Faith Equine Rescue, the rabbits now have a safe place until they find their new homes. Because if you can care for 1,000-pound horses, rabbits are no problem!

Ned Ryun @nedryun - Today is the 250th anniversary Henry Knox and his noble train of artillery marching into Cambridge, MA. They'd traversed 300 miles from Ticonderoga to Cambridge, leaving Ticonderoga on Dec 6 after choosing the best 59 cannon and mortars to transport back to Washington and the American forces surrounding Boston. They would scale mountains, cross frozen rivers, lower cannon down cliffs, all in the middle of winter (which was part of Knox's plan: he needed snow and ice to drag the heavy cannon on sledges). Roughly six weeks later, on March 5th, on the 6th anniversary of the Boston Massacre, Washington and the Americans "stole a march" on the British and fortified Dorchester Heights in a single night, placing more than a dozen heavy cannon there that dominated not only the town but Boston Harbor where the British warships were anchored. Washington gave Knox the honor of firing the first cannon and within days the British were forced out of Boston. . . The attached pictures are from a re-enactment of Knox's noble train but gives you a feel for what it would have looked like. Teams of oxen (and some teams of horses) pulling cannon on heavy wooden sledges for 300 miles.
