This house was the home of the Cole Family of Durham County, NC, and is believed to have been built in the 1830s.
It's been empty for decades, but each Spring, a new crop of daffodils pops up in the place where Mrs. Cole planted them generations ago.
I call these ghost gardens, and every year, I spend all of February and March tracking down old homesteads and cemeteries by looking for these daffodil patches in the woods.
