The Friday before the event, I was honored to host @genesimmons and his family (and my friend Elliot Berke) for lunch at White House. He is (obviously) a legendary rock star and also a good man.
At lunch, Gene talked about his love of America and the American Dream, his gratitude to be a citizen of this great country (born in Israel in poverty and coming to America at age 8).
He also spoke most beautifully of his mom, who was a survivor of a Nazi concentration camp in Austria and raised young Gene as a single mom in Queens, New York, believed in him, and was fiercely protective of him.

Saturday Morning Snow Ops Update:
Yes, the white stuff arrived. Snow melts and refreezes. Plows and salt spreaders will be out as long as needed to address icy conditions.
While we take care of streets, property owners are responsible for clearing the sidewalks abutting their properties; failing to do so could result in a fine.
You may place trash, compost and recycling at the curb according to your normal schedule, however, expect delays - the same Workers who pick up the trash are also the ones plowing & salting the streets now.
Emergency Snow Shovelers will be working tomorrow to help clear snow and ice from bus stops, crosswalks, fire hydrants, and step streets.
Our Special Waste sites will be closed today, Saturday, Dec. 27.
