He conned women across the U.S., gaining access to their bank accounts, credit cards, passports, and email accounts. In reality, 40-year-old Daniel Inweregbu ran his romance scams from Lagos, Nigeria.
Thanks to an FBI New Orleans investigation, he'll spend the next 33 months in federal prison and have to pay restitution of more than $166,000. More on the case, here:

FoiaFan @15poundstogo - I’ll share a story. I have a friend who is as kind and sweet and polite as you can imagine. He doesn’t have a hateful bone in his body. One winter day he pulls off his hood and hat and scarf and see he has a painful glowing shiner. I ask him what happened. He say “damn black guys” (or so I thought I heard). I was totally surprised and asked “you got in a fight with some black guys”?!? No, no, no, he responds. “Black ICE. I fell on some black ice!!!”
Bottom line. Even when you think you’re sure you know something, double-check!!! We all make mistakes.
PS. I have other stories where I was just as sure of what I thought I heard or saw or remembered, and I was just as wrong. We are all fallible.
