Marcos Monarrez Jr., 26, of Phoenix, was sentenced to life in prison, and his father, Marcos Monarrez-Mendoza, 55, of Mexico, was sentenced to 15 years to be followed by deportation to Mexico. They were among 35 individuals charged in 2024 for their participation in a domestic and international narcotics and money laundering conspiracy involving substantial quantities of fentanyl, methamphetamine, and cocaine.

On Friday, December 5, 2025, Horizon City Police Department arrested 29-year-old Roman Morales of Horizon City for possession of child pornography and child sexual assault material. The arrest stemmed from a joint investigation between HCPD and FBI El Paso after images of child pornography and child sexual assault material was observed on Mr. Morales’s cellular device.
Mr. Morales was arrested the Ft. Bliss Cassidy gate by HCPD, FBI El Paso and members of the Ft. Bliss Criminal Investigations Division.  Mr. Morales was booked into the jail on 2 charges of possession of child pornography and child sexual assault material, with bonds totaling $150,000.00.
