Sen. Chris Murphy Meets with New Hampshire Democratic Activists
Senator Chris Murphy (D-CT) met with Democratic activists for a town hall at the New Hampshire Institute of Politics, where he commented on the legislation passed by the Senate and House to reopen the federal government from its longest-ever shutdown (43 days). "I don't want to spend the next month arguing amongst ourselves, but I do think in the immediate aftermath of that vote we've got to be honest with each other that we have to do better," the senator said. In addition to criticizing his party for its handling of the shutdown, Senator Murphy said he wanted Democrats to go on the offensive going into the 2026 midterms, encouraging his party to be more aggressive in messaging. He met and took pictures with many of those in attendance before and after the town hall, and also spoke to reporters before leaving.
