Dr. Tamitha Skov @TamithaSkov - This is very wild! The patch is so small and distinct from the rest of the #aurora indicating a highly localized process. The "white" color of the light may actually reflect a broader spectrum of color than typical aurora emits. Perhaps a very bright FALE (Faint Aurora Like Emission) that might suggest a scattering of a discrete energetic particle population into the loss cone by wave processes. I'd love to hear what magnetospheric and ionospheric scientists think of this particular anomaly. Excellent capture!
