Much of the game is overshadowed by a bizarre event in which officials attempted to dry the wet field by dousing the infield in gasoline and lighting it on fire, but this has no effect other than to produce thick and acrid smoke that causes many of the 42,000 fans to leave.
The field was nevertheless used after the flames were extinguished.
