22 telegraphers send out 165,000 words per day on the trial, and thousands of miles of telegraph wire are specially hung for the purpose; they decorate the town like tinsel.
Trained chimpanzees perform on the courthouse lawn; they are given the names of the trial’s characters and spectators bet on who will win in chimp fights.
Two wealthy cameramen have a special airstrip carved out of a local field so they can fly their film in and out of the small town.
