President Trump with Coronavirus Task Force Briefing
President Trump and members of the White House Coronavirus Task Force held a news conference on the federal government's response to the pandemic. They announced new plans for a nationwide coronavirus testing strategy. The president confirmed that over 5 million tests had been conducted so far. Following the announcement, he took questions from reporters on other issues, including the health of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, comments made by Attorney General William Barr on how states are handling re-opening, and the state of the economy. "I built the greatest economy in the history of the world," President Trump told reporters in the Rose Garden.

2024 White House Correspondents' Association Dinner
At an annual dinner for members of the White House Correspondents' Association, journalists received awards, and "Saturday Night Live" cast member Colin Jost was the headliner. Following tradition, President Biden also made humorous remarks about politics and the media, and needled his political rival and 2024 presidential candidate Donald Trump. At times, the president was serious, urging journalists in attendance to report "truth over lies," and "to rise up to the seriousness of the moment; move past the horserace numbers and the gotcha moments and the distractions, the sideshows." Former C-SPAN videographer Edward Lewis received a lifetime achievement award. Also, the WHCA paid tribute to detained American journalists Evan Gershkovich and Austin Tice. Mr. Gershkovich was being held by the Russian government, and Mr. Tice was kidnapped while reporting in Syria in 2012.
