Authorities say two people were airlifted in critical condition following a collision with a propane tanker in northwest Iowa.
The Iowa State Patrol says the multi-vehicle collision occurred Thursday around 1:20 p.m. along Highway 9 and Country Highway K30, directly south of Lester.
Officials say a Toyota Corolla was stopped at a stop sign and pulled into the intersection heading north. Authorities say the Corolla failed to yield to an oncoming Peterbilt pulling a propane tanker heading westbound. ISP says the two vehicles collided in the intersection.
Authorities say the Corolla then collided with a stationary Chevy Tracker, which had been stopped while waiting to turn onto K30 into Lester, Iowa.
Iowa State Patrol says the driver and passenger of the Corolla, 36-year-old Andrea Solis and 67-year-old Marga Valderrama de Barrios, were transported to Sanford Sioux Falls Hospital by helicopter in critical condition.
