It's so sad that this happened to her. Judging from her behavior, she seemed to be on social media 24/7 and showed a clear propensity for self-harm. I really wish her family had stepped in and done something. Based on my experience, someone dealing with that level of crisis and dangerous internet behavior needs a highly structured environment to keep them safe.

In my college days during my psychiatric clinical rotation. I saw all kinds of mental illnesses there, including individuals who had to be secretly admitted due to the toxic, 24/7 impact of social media. It made me realize how crucial strict management is for people facing these intense struggles, especially since the free world can be so dangerous when every single second is a crisis.

I had a classmate with eupd, anxiety, and adhd; while she wasn’t trapped online 24/7, these conditions are highly unpredictable. Seeing how severe they can get makes me believe individuals facing such high risks require strict, continuous confinement and supervision for their own safety.
