That's where the tragedy exists. They can't develop normal and healthy relationships because if they start dating someone, their significant other will be the target of the next sacrifice so they need to appeal to a large audience that will inevitably consist of at least one mentally ill virgin that they can then sacrifice instead of someone they love.

That further explains why these girls don't have typical relationships and aren't loyal.
